I saw this one only on a Rochester Birding Association field trip to the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. I lucked into running into some birders who generously invited me to ride along--the field trip organizers had arranged access onto a dike that is usually closed to the public, and without that access I'd never have seen this bird in 2013.
